I love markets. Food markets, craft markets, art markets; you name it and I'm there, so I'm a kid in a candy store in Mexico City where you can't walk more than a few blocks without finding yourself in the middle of colorful stalls selling everything from cell phone cases to delicious street food. When our lease signing and moving plans fell through this past Saturday (don't worry, we are signing later this week), we decided to turn lemons into lemonade and spend the day in the San Ángel neighborhood exploring their well-known Bazaar Sábado, with a brief stop at the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo.
The number one question David and I get asked these days is "why Mexico City"? It's a valid question, especially considering that we are choosing to leave behind an amazing home, city, community, and life stability for lots of unknowns. While for family and friends our choice seems unnerving, for us, it's the product of hours of research, discussions, and more research. This life adventure is the culmination of my crazy idea almost three years ago, but to be honest, Mexico was far off our radar screen until recently.
What a trip! There is so much to say and share about our recent 1 1/2 weeks exploring South Africa, but let's be honest...the most important sharing is all about the food. We spent six glorious, sunshine filled days wandering around Cape Town, and along the way discovered delicious bites, eye-opening coffee, and scrumptious snacks to fuel our packed days. If you or anyone you know is planning a stay in the Mother City soon, I highly recommend checking out a few of these places. Special thanks to The Inside Guide, a local blog dedicated to the best of Cape Town, for pointing us in the right direction.
Yes, you read that title right. David and I are heading on a grand life adventure to Mexico City for a few years, and Finding Normal is coming with us. This blog will continue to be a home base for me to talk about the health and wellness issues I'm passionate about, but it will also chronicle the ups and downs as we travel through some big unknowns.
Over the next few months, I'll be making some changes to the layout of Finding Normal to better reflect our life's new direction. In particular, you can expect to see move videos, and travel related content. My hope is to help you feel like you're right beside us each step of the way. My very first Mexico video is already available, which highlights some of what we experienced during our first trip to Mexico City just a few weeks ago. Check it out!
Charleston, SC has been a popular destination for a few years now. The water front views, delicious food, great shopping, beautiful scenery, and classic southern charm make it a perfect pick for a long weekend almost any time of year. David and I visited for a 3-day escape from the cold back in March (yes, I know this post is almost 5 months late). After having to delay our trip two weeks due to canceled flights, we were thrilled to finally arrive to much needed sunshine and exploration.
