It's my birthday week! It's also looking like this unusually cold and rainy weather is finally moving on, just in time for a glorious holiday weekend. I hope you have plans which include being outdoors and grilling, we certainly do. It's been way too long since I've posted a weekly menu. This is mostly because my schedule got crazy (see the last menu post for details), so our lunches and dinners relied heavily on quick salads, eggs, and canned tuna/salmon. I have nothing against these things, they just don't make for very interesting blogging. But fear not! My kitchen is back in action, plus...STRAWBERRIES!
Step 1: Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Pick-Up
Strawberries, enough said!
As a side note, considering it has been a while since my last menu post, feel free to refresh your memory on my planning process here.
Step 2: Menu Creation
There are a lot of moving pieces in our schedule this week. Did I mention my birthday is June 1st? A busy schedule, however, doesn't have to mean letting go of fun and healthy meals. The key is sticking to ingredients, flavors, and cooking methods you feel comfortable with.
* = We are playing tourists in our own city, and going on a food walking tour of the Eastern Market neighborhood.
** = I will be roasting the asparagus and snow peas in order to have quick veggies to add to my eggs.
*** = There is really no argument, ice cream always wins. We will be going to my favorite place, Thomas Sweet.
Step 3: Grocery Shopping
A bit of a longer list this week, but all in the name of delicious dinners.
